Two Dozen Thoughts About Nothing in Particular

Sundays are boring without pro football.
But March Madness is right around the corner.
The NBA totally bores me.
The New York Knicks are a sorry excuse for a pro sports franchise.
I’ve actually seen several of the movies nominated for Oscars this year.
No Country for Old Men was electrifying.
There Will Be Blood was intense, but I think a bit overblown and overrated.
I may or may not watch the awards.
I’m growing anxious as The Wire winds down.
I’ve already watched this week’s episode on HBO on Demand and I’m saddened by what happens.
Sometimes I wish David Simon was a more traditional producer who wanted the show to last forever.
If he were, then Stringer Bell should have been kept alive and Marlo Stanfield should have been killed.
Stringer was a criminal with a larger vision. Marlo is a psychopath.
Why did George Bush go to Africa last week?
Lame duck presidents should not be allowed to travel or introduce new legislation.
Is Hillary Clinton willing to fracture the Democratic Party to prevent Barack Obama from winning?
Excited Obama supporters need to realize that John McCain can still be our next president. This is still America people.
I don’t like the use of Super Delegates. The Democratic Party should do away with the practice. My vote is just as important as these so-called VIPs.
I’m back on a treadmill to nowhere, professionally. Gainfully employed and bored to tears.
I need a creative outlet. Writing and completing a play is a priority this year.
So is developing a podcast.
I think this blog will focus more on the arts and culture around NYC.
Why do I and so many of my friends over 40 feel no great connection to a gay community?
There is so little going on in the community that appeals to who I am at this point in my life.

Obama MAY have the Dem nod, but I still think the Democrats will somehow lose to the Repugnants once again. Hillary will do her share to be able to run in four, not eight more years.

Once again: the Clintons are only interested in themselves and will do anything for their own personal gain. All those negroes kowtowing to them before Barack’s big push should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, they won’t feel any shame, just sadness at not continuing to garner the crumbs of their masters.

I agree, No Country for Old Men is superb (my favorite film of the year) and There Will Be Blood… overrated.

I already miss The Wire and we still have two episodes left.

I’m over the Obama vs. Clinton hysterics. Both camps have issues and Obama’s legion of blind followers, while historic, are scary.

Get creative; show us what you got!

“Sundays are boring without pro football.”

— Matter of opinion.

“But March Madness is right around the corner.
The NBA totally bores me.”

— I do watch this occasionally. Every now and then I see another young Stephan Marbury and fall in love all over again. I still wish they wore less clothes …

So what appeals to you Bernie? If what appeals to you isn’t out there, MAKE IT HAPPEN.

For example, big (sometimes fat), hairy, often older white guys who were ignored at the clubs and other gay venues started their own “bear culture” with its own standard of attractiveness and sex appeal. Now that they have their own bear culture, the bears don’t need twinkies for companionship/sex because they have each other.

The difference between white boys and black boys is that when white boys are unhappy with something, they DO SOMETHING to change the paradigm. They feel empowered as white men, I suppose, to do this. We, on the other hand, sit around and complain.

Take a page from the “white boy book” of how to do things. Take some initiative and start a group for black gay men over 40. It’s not hard. Just do it!

Edwin,

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time then you should know full well what I’m into. Basically, I’m into things that are not inherently gay or straight, but just interesting activities.

I have found that I am bored by homogenized spaces. I seem to have a more interesting time amongst diverse groups, where I can be among open-minded gays and straights, men and women, young and old, Black and White and Latin and Asian and Native American and Middle Eastern, etc., etc., etc.

It is less about taking a page out of some “white boy book” and starting yet another exclusive group catering to a singularly focused, non-diverse population, but rather desiring the company of people who share my value for diversity. I have no interest in living in a Black gay over 40 ghetto, but would much rather be an out man who moves where ever he chooses anywhere in society. It is just that when I am out doing those things I enjoy, I am so often the only Black and/or Black gay man in the space, having a good time mind you, but noticeably the only one.
