Black and brown members of the blogosphere gathered in Harlem Sunday to break bread, connect faces to blogs and just enjoy each others company talking about anything and everything, blog-related or not. Bill Clinton was not invited.
Inspired to a degree by the very noticeable absence of such faces at the former Presidents uptown meeting with bloggers a few weeks back, but motivated more by a desire to build community among our own, it turned out to be a more intimate gathering than originally intended. Some 24 people RSVPd to Donalds evite to meet at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, but all told the final number was about 10 short of that, with a couple of non-blogging friends added. Mostly a five borough crowd showed up, with one New Jersey commuter and a NYC native who now lives in Baltimore also making the trip. With all due respect to those who didnt show, the smaller size allowed us to have a more fun afternoon with friends old and new.
Cameras were in abundance so Im sure youll be seeing plenty of pictures elsewhere. Mine are posted to my Flickr account. Donald toted out the professional gear while the rest of us brought our trusty point-and-shoot digitals.
Heres a list of bloggers in attendance, with apologies if I missed anyone. I hope we can do it again.

Sweet! Although, I must say, I’m not a fan of folk who RSVP and no-show. What’s the point of that? But maybe that’s just my pet peeve.
It looks like a good time was had by all. J. made a good point though; I wonder how many folks RSVPed then didn’t show.
I wonder if it’s time for an ATL Brown Blogger Meet-up. Hmm….
People RSVPing and not showing is such an everyday occurrence in NYC I don’t think most folks get bent out of shape over it. I sure don’t. Stuff happens and you can’t make it. Life goes on.
The good thing is that those who showed had fun.
Hey Bernie,
Just commenting to let you know I’m here. I saw your comment at j’s and thought I’d give you a shout.
Luv ya!
Thanks for putting these up so quickly Bernie. My Flickr set so far –> http://flickr.com/photos/ronntaylor/sets/72157594319128787/
And Nichelle made it at the last minute (Yay!): http://www.nichellenewsletter.typepad.com/
I was happy to get the invite but the mom was here this weekend so I unfortunately had to excuse myself. Let’s do one at a Colombian restaurant in Queens the next time? Hehe.
Although I’m notorious for the RSVP no-show …
this was not one of those occasions. This was too important to let last minute bullshit distract me from what I see as a necessary step toward empowering our entire community.
We BGB are the vocal arm of our community, and when we all come together there is a great sense of strength.
I wouldn’t have missed for the world (or a hot boy), and I’m so looking forward to our future gatherings of any sort.
Bernie,
I did have a wonderful time. It was great to have discussion on something not directly related to Classical Music or Collegiate life in general. I must say that I agree with J’s comment, I have a pet peeve when it comes to RSVP’s, but the NYC excuse allows for a temperature of dissapointment I can handle.
The pics are great, and I cannot wait to do it again. Till that fabulous gathering,
I remain Full,
Ken
Next time- Can I be invited? I’ll be on the East Coast by the end of October!
This Philly Blogger is jealous! I don’t really know of any other Philly LGBT Bloggers other than Marz……..well maybe I’ll have to try to make it to a NYC Brown Blogger social event in the future. Looks like it was fun.
I’m late blogging on this but once I have my pics out of the flashcard, I’ll gank your list :)
BTW, who’s up for another one in November?
