It was a fairly anti-climactic ending to an otherwise exciting three weeks of college basketball. The Florida Gators dispatched the UCLA Bruins 73-57 to earn that school its first ever NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and barely broke a sweat in the process. They were clearly the better team, although few people saw it coming this year. In capping off their 33-6 season, they are also the first school in the entire state of Florida to ever win the title.
But when all is said and done, in the end, aren’t we just glad it wasn’t Duke?

Yes, anti-climactic… UCLA looked like LSU in the final four game… lost. And yes, so happy it’s not Duke… or UConn.
HATERS
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
And the Duke women lost last night too!
I wanted George Mason to go all the way! Once George Mason lost to Florida, I didn’t even bother to watch the championship game. Regarding Duke- what about the lacross team? The whole saga makes me sick and sad!
I felt the same way about George Mason. My interest fell way off when they lost. I didn’t watch LSU-UCLA and only half watched the championship.
As for Duke lacrosse, yet another reason to hate that school. Racist, sexist, misogynistic, privileged bastards!
Professor Kim has been following the story over on her blog (see March 30 and April 2).
I was receiving notices of new post but now they’ve stopped coming. I wonder what happened.
