Damn!

The hard drive on my computer died last week. The laptop is in the shop until next Friday. I’m hoping all my data is retrievable. (And don’t even ask that question. You know the answer is no.)

Blogging and emailing can only be done during weekday daytime hours until then.

Damn!

I ain’t Clinton, but I feel your pain. The same thing happened to my baby about 5 months ago. He never backed up anything, so he had to start over from scratch.

I’m hoping to get a Mac Mini by early next week because I’m sure my aging iMac is about to die, not just suffer a HD crash.

Bernie, let me give you a little advice on computers:

GET A MAC!

As everyone who knows me already knows, I already own a Mac and have only owned Macs. I wouldn’t waste my time with a PC.

This is only the second time in 15 years of computer ownership that I have had a hard drive problem. Last year my monitor conked out but the hard drive was fine. I maintain hope the data is retrievable.

I lost everything on my Mac two years ago–about six short stories, half a novel, you name it. I’d been backing up or printing out essays, etc., for a good while, then didn’t think about it and KABOOM, there it was. I hope you can recover as much as possible, and then if you can afford it, please rush to get a backup drive AND/OR a DVD burner that does DVD+RW, so that you can store and restore the information as frequently as possible. I definitely hope you can retrieve everything though!

My ibook crashed last week. I spent 90 minutes at Apple Soho last night and heard the terrible news, “System failure. You may have lost everything” My baby is in the shop and I’m hoping they are able to recover my files & photos.
