Take back the country!

For far too long, we progressives have had our liberal views bashed and misrepresented by the likes of such Right Wing neanderthals as Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, William Bennett, Newt Gingrich and other deceitful hypocrits hell-bent on making over this country in their own racist, sexist, homophobic image.

While they give themselves and their rich friends tax cuts and billion dollar government contracts, bail out savings and loan swindlers and other corporate crooks, they blame welfare recipients, homeless people, inner-city youth, labor unions, single mothers, gays and lesbian and anyone else deem marginal, for the problems of America. WE all knew their claims were bullshit. Now the smell is becoming unbearable.

As if we didn't know, the war in Iraq was based on a pack of lies. There were no weapons of mass destruction. The CIA knew that and told the White House so. Bush chose to lie to the country anyway during his State of the Union address. He played on 9/11 fears and people's ignorance about all things Middle Eastern. He's now asking for $87 billion to rebuild a country he needlessly destroyed. This at the same time as it becomes increasingly evident that those tax cuts he gave everyone are only creating more unemployment, fewer jobs, and greater hardship for poor and working class people.

And that's not all. In the greatest act of treason since the Cold War, someone in Bush's own White House leaked the name of a CIA operative to a conservative member of the media, whose husband, a former US ambassador, dared to critize the White House on Iraq. In other words, they did just like Nixon before them; they used the power of the office to try to silence critics. With public outcry for an independent investigation growing and growing, Bush has asked the highly suspect John Ashcroft-led Justice Department to look into it. Well, that's just not good enough.

WE have the best opportunity in a long time to finally rid this country of this evil menace. The Right Wing extremists must be identified and hunted out. We must organize and defeat them at every election, national, statewide or local. They represent only a very small, elitist group of privileged mostly rich, mostly white, mostly males, who are deathly afraid of the changes going on in America. Their fears of a more ethnically diverse country, sharing economic power, and respecting sexual identity differences has them reacting with heinous laws, military buildups and consolidations of business interests, all to protect their own. They are like the insecure child on the playground who just doesn't know how to play well with others.

It is past time to get angry, get organized, and get even with these bastards. Let's take back the fucking country and run it the way it's supposed to be run. More humanely, more inclusively, less violently, more connected to the rest of the world's citizenry, and in the end, more prosperously.

Love this piece. Sounds exactly like what I'm writing in my new book. That's what got my attention. The book is called Take Back America and your post is Take Back The Country. We must be on the same wavelength. Write on.
